Electrophoresis Front Cover


The cover picture shows a single-stranded DNA molecule moving electrokinetically through a nanochannel (100 x 100 nm, width x depth) made from the plastic poly(methylmetharcylate), PMMA, and detected using laser-induced fluorescence. The separation, which is scale-dependent, is based on a combination of electrophoresis and chromatography – open tubular nano-electrochromatography (OTNEC). Baseline resolution for three model DNAs of different lengths was achieved in < 1 s using a column length of 60 µm.
