CBM2 team members from Louisiana State University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and the University of North Carolina traveled to Lawrence, KS to participate in the 2018 all-hands team meeting, held on 5/17/18 on the campus of The University of Kansas in the newly opened Burge Union. The day-long meeting included research update presentations given by graduate students and post-doctoral associates, a poster session, and an evening reception at KU’s DeBruce Center. Meeting attendees enjoyed a visit to KU’s new Integrated Science Building (ISB) and tour of the Soper laboratory suite, which just opened one week prior to the meeting and will be the new home of the Center and the Soper research group starting in the fall of 2018.

Following the all-hands meeting, team members participated in the Center’s 2018 External Advisory Board meeting on 5/18/18, also held in the Burge Union at KU. They were joined by External Advisory Board members Rich Superfine (University of North Carolina), Stefanie Jeffrey (Stanford University), Bruno Frazier (Georgia Tech), Bruce Gale (University of Utah), and Paul Bohn (University of Notre Dame). EAB member Bill Efcavitch (Molecular Assemblies) and NIH Program Officer Tiffani Lash joined the meeting remotely.

The CBM2 Leadership team gave presentations on the NIH P41 multisite grant Center, four Translational Research & Design projects, Collaboration & Service projects, and Training & Dissemination components. The graduate students and post-doctoral associates discussed their research efforts with the EAB members at a poster session. After the formal presentations and poster session, the EAB members took a tour of ISB, new Soper laboratory suite, and the new KU Nanofabrication Laboratory cleanroom suite set to open in the fall of 2018.
